RPC Research

The Rapid Prototyping Center and Consortium have been involved in RP system and material evaluations as well as extending the applications of Rapid Prototyping and Solid Freeform Fabrication since 1991.

We invite you to follow the links below for examples of some of the past & present RPC Research activities.

Soon after Stereolithography (SLA) became available from 3D systems, additional applications, beyond form and fit, became apparent. Applications, where functional testing was needed, were made possible through additional processing of RP patterns or forms.

More recently, the possibility of using RP to achieve production tooling has become possible, and we look onward to the development of high performance tooling and direct production of custom products.

Testing and Evaluation. A sampling of RP material & process evaluations conducted by the RPC.

Tetralattice

TetraLattice is a three-dimensional lattice structure made possible by the layer-wise buildstyle of Solid Freeform Fabrication.

PHAST

Prototype Hard And Soft Tooling (PHAST) is a mold-making process aimed at quickly producing metal mold inserts for injection, compression, and blow molding applications.
