Quick Facts
- Teachers study energy transfer and assess new teaching tools.
- Applications accepted now, beginning in April 2008.
- Notification of acceptance and group assignment in September 2008.
- Participants attend a two-week workshop at MSOE in the summer of 2009 or 2010 and professional development activities in the following year.
- Data will be collected throughout the school years of 2009 - 2011.
- There is no cost to participate, but there is a $50 transcript fee.
- Participants will receive a $250 stipend, instructional models and materials and six special graduate credits.*
- Housing is provided during the workshop for those not able to drive home in the evening.
- Workshop dates: (Random assignment to one or the other)
Group A, Summer of 2009 (Monday, August 3 – Friday, August 14)
Group B, Summer of 2010 (Monday, August 2 – Friday, August 13) - Attendance for all participants is required the first half day of both workshops.
- Please note that the application is designed to allow us to match participants across education and teaching experience so as to create evenly matched groups.
- No particular expertise is required other than it is likely that you will teach biology in the 2009-2010 and 2010 - 2011 school years.
