Acetylcholinesterase
This tutorial explores the enzyme acetylcholinesterase.
This enzyme breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
Therefore acetylcholine is its substrate.
Three amino acid residues catalyze the break down of the reactant acetylcholine into the products choline and acetate.
Use the buttons to see the location of these three residues in the enzyme's active site.
