Teacher Projects
To
facilitate communication among all participating SEPA teachers, and
to encourage new teachers to join us, information regarding the activities
of SEPA teachers will be regularly posted on this page. We encourage
you to check these pages frequently, to keep in touch with what your
colleagues are doing.
The Projects:
Teachers who have participated in the past two Summer SEPA courses are now working as members of various "curriculum design teams". Each team is working to develop new curriculum modules for use in their classrooms. In each case, the curriculum is related to molecular structure and function. Each team is designing and creating physical and computer-based models of proteins to support this new curriculum. Visit the links provided below to find out what each team is doing.
The 3D Translation Team - This team created the first ever physical models of the ribosome.
The p53 Tumor Suppressor Team - This Team is creating an "anti-smoking" curriculum module, based on the known molecular consequences of cigarette smoke on the p53 tumor suppressor protein.
The Ameritech Teams - These Teams are composed of students from 12 high schools who are working with SEPA teachers to design physical models of proteins that will be used in their classrooms.
